Stewart Warner Instruments Unveils Comprehensive SAE J1708/J1587 Compatible Instrument SystemCHICAGO -- A comprehensive instrument package designed to simplify installation and improve overall gauge accuracy, while utilizing the SAE J1708/J1587 protocol, has been developed by Stewart Warner Instrument Corporation. The INFOTRAK 2000 Data Bus system includes ten different gauges -- the speedometer, tachometer, water temperature, oil pressure, voltmeter, oil temperature, fuel, rear and front air pressure gauges and a transmission oil temperature gauge. All gauges except the voltmeter include an integral warning light that eliminates the need to have the warning function in a separate light bar. Each gauge contains easy to read graphics, dual scales with both English and Metric measurements and a 270 degree dial sweep for greater definition of scale. The INFOTRAK 2000 Data Bus system improves overall instrument reliability by eliminating the need for redundant senders and switches. IC MAX Instrument Controller drives the gauges digitally, improving the accuracy of the system. The IC MAX has the ability to drive up to ten J1708/J1587 gauge functions and up to sixteen J1708/J1587 warning lamp functions, as well as having the capability to activate a remote audible alarm. The IC MAX transfers information directly from the J1708/J1587 Data Bus to each gauge. For applications that require gauge functions without the J1708/J1587 output, such as fuel and air pressure, the INFOTRAK 2000 provides two different methods of structuring the system. The 988E sender translator module converts sender outputs into the J1708/J1587 protocol and can translate a pyrometer function. For those applications that utilize conventional fuel and air pressure gauges that are sender driven, the system offers conventional sender driven gauges that match the styling of the Data Bus driven gauges. These gauges also incorporate low level and pressure warning lights. Common applications for this system will be in heavy duty trucks, as well as industrial and marine equipment that utilize engines and other major vehicle components that incorporate the J1708/J1587 protocol. The INFOTRAK 2000 simplifies installation and serviceability through the use of quick connect Packard connectors. Connector cables are available in one to three foot lengths. |
